On 29 November 2017, the Faculty of Humanities of the Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) hosted the conference “Onomastic Research 2017: Names and Dictionaries”.

The conference organised jointly by ELTE, Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church and the Society of Hungarian Linguistics was the first event this year of the internationally outstanding series of conferences on applied onomastics. The conference organised for the sixth occasion dealt with the interdisciplinary areas and common problems of onomastics and lexicography. Speakers from and outside Hungary represented ELTE, one of the most significant centres of Hungarian onomastic research and several higher educational and academic institutions of the Carpathian Basin.

The Institute for Hungarian Language Strategy - as a sponsor of the conference – finances the publication of the lectures.
