On the 13th of December 2018, the Institute for Hungarian Language Strategy (MANYSI) organised a Czuczor–Fogarasi Conference on the occasion of the publication of “Addendum”, the supplement of the Dictionary of the Hungarian Language.
The position of our country and the Hungarian language can significantly improve in the multilingual European environment with the introduction of the digitalised eTranslation service developed for the national public administrations by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) of the European Commission.
The motto of the National Day of Hungarian Science in 2018 is “Science without Frontiers”. On 9 November, the Termini Language Research Network organised a conference titled “Hungarian Language without Frontiers” in the Lecture Room of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
In 2015 the European Commission launched a comprehensive European Language Resource Coordination (ELRC) effort to identify and gather language and translation data relevant to national public services, administrations and governmental institutions across all 30 European countries participating in the CEF programme in order to dismantle European language barriers, to promote the proper functioning of the European Economic Area and to create a true Digital Single Market in Europe.
On the 17th of August 2018, Tibor H. Tóth, head of department of the Institute for Hungarian Language Strategy gave a lecture at the House of the Hungarian Language in Széphalom.
Although the conference is free of charge, registration is required.

On June 14, 2018, the Institute for Hungarian Language Strategy organised a round table discussion on language cultivation. The discussion was about how to ensure the continuity of Hungarian language cultivation and to restore its prestige.
On 12 June, 2018, a workshop on the essay written by our colleague, József Maleczki about the most frequent anglicisms in the Hungarian language media was held in our Institute.
The conference aims at creating a forum where discussion about the relationship between language and education is possible in an interdisciplinary manner. It is planned to hold such conferene in a given theme every two years.
This year the Association for the Cultivation of the Hungarian Language is organising the fifth summer camp for linguists in Sátoraljaújhely, Széphalom.
On 16 May, the Institute for Hungarian Language Strategy organised a roundtable discussion with the delegates of the editorial offices of radio stations broadcasting in Hungarian in the Diaspora.
